Here's a good idea that looks good in any part of the house. A magical forest in a jar. 
All you need is...
  •  a glass bowl (small fish bowl or flower vase)
  •  potting soil (you probably only need 1 litre)
  •  moss
  •  small pebbles
  •  decorations such as model pine trees, model moss, décor gravel, an animal
This is what you need to do...
  1. open the bag of soil and pour the soil into the jar about one fifth to one quarter full
  2. wet the soil with a little bit of water to make the soil moist and fertile 
  3. scatter a small layer of pebbles on the soil, make sure you scatter enough so you don't see any of the soil
  4. spread chunks of moss around but leave a narrow strip of pebble to make a pebble path
  5. add in the decorations, like rocks, trees, mushrooms, even animals
